Have you been to our local history room? If you’re upstairs, it will be down the hallway on the left and all the way to the back. Here, you can look up old newspaper obits or birthing announcements. There are also cases filled with cemetery and cremation records.

Marquis James Room

The Marquis James Room and the Enid Public Library became designated a Literary Landmark in 2016. We have a collection of writing and other objects from Marquis James. This room also holds past Polk Directory books and old high school yearbooks for a trip down memory lane.

Comics and Graphic Novels for Adults

Our newest addition upstairs is our Comics & Graphic Novels for adults (ages 16+). We have Marvel comics, graphic novels of popular classics and TV series, as well as anime and manga. This section is a work-in-progress, so be sure to check back regularly! Or make a recommendation for a title…

Marketplace 2.0 (New Nonfiction)

While our new fiction, mystery, sci-fi, and others can be found downstairs, upstairs you’ll find new biographies, cookbooks, political commentaries, and more.

Newspaper Clippings

Have you noticed our filing cabinets in the Marquis James Room?

Past librarians clipped important notices and articles and combined them into separate file folders for reference. It’s a treasure trove of local history if you’re mood for interesting facts, tidbits, and pieces of surrounding towns! It’s easy to get lost in here (not that it’s happened in the past or anything).

Speaking of getting lost…we have old newspapers from the Enid Daily Wave (early 1900s) to copies of the Enid News & Eagle (through May 2018.) Whether you’re looking for something specific or just want to know what the topic of the day was on your birthday, there’s always something fun to find.

The only thing you need is your library card to access the computer! Visit the service desk on the first floor.
