Celebrate National Popcorn Day with a night in!
It’s National Popcorn Day! And whether you like yours with butter, extra butter, salt, extra salt, or nothing at all, we thought we’d highlight some movies you can checkout (for free!) with your library card to celebrate. So get ready to kick back in your comfy clothes for a cozy night in with these collection items.
DVDs
I remember the days of going to the video store to check out a VHS tape. Walking the aisle and hoping that there was a tape behind the cover. While there may no longer be any more “Be Kind, Rewind” shelves, you can still browse our cases of DVDs to find what you’re looking for. (Our new shelves were actually from the local Family Video that used to be located in Enid!)
Recently, we added Jungle Cruise, Stillwater with Matt Damon, and Respect with Jennifer Hudson playing the legendary Aretha Franklin, but we also have classics, Marvel hits, and television series. If you’re looking for general audience DVDs, search our catalog using “DVD.” If you’re looking for movies to share specifically with the kiddos, search our catalog for “J-DVD.”
Binge Box
If you’re in the mood for a sampling of movies and want more checkouts for your buck (our current limit is 4 movies per visit), then you’ll definitely want to give our Binge Box a try. They’re our newest additions to the DVD collection. They are movies that are grouped by theme. Recent additions to our collection include: Favorite Franchises, Comedy Legends Hard at Work, and Disney’s Halloween Spooktacular.
Search the catalog using “BB DVD” to check them out!
Now Streaming
And for those who like to stream movies on their devices, don’t forget to check out Hoopla. You can stream movies directly to your TV as well. They offer a wide selection of movies and television series that you can download instantly (although television series require one checkout per episode, and the library offers 4 checkouts per month).
Hoopla is a great option if you need a last-minute movie!
