Enid Public Library Displays Oklahoma Arts Institute’s Tour de Quartz Exhibit
This month, the Enid Public Library will display artwork from Oklahoma high school students who attended the 2024 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute, an arts academy held by the Oklahoma Arts Institute each summer at Quartz Mountain State Park & Lodge.
Dubbed the Tour de Quartz, the art exhibition features works created by the drawing and painting and photography students at OSAI. The artworks are exhibited at museums, libraries, and art galleries across the state. Four Enid students attended the academy this year including three for drawing & painting, Graydon Bruyn, Kyndall Ray, and Ramey Wilkins from Oklahoma Bible Academy. In addition, Kaidence Spurrier of Enid High School attended for film & video.
“The library is excited to partner with the Oklahoma Arts Institute to make the 2024 Tour de Quartz art exhibit available in Garfield County. The Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute is an amazing opportunity for Oklahoma youth to explore their artistic talents and passions,” library director Theri Ray said. “Encouraging exploration of the arts is part of the library’s history and part of our current long-term strategic plan. We’re proud to be an Oklahoma Library supporting Oklahoma artists.”
The Oklahoma Arts Institute says drawing and painting students received in-depth training in charcoal drawing and acrylic and oil painting and the photography students explored cyanotypes and film photography all taught by nationally renowned artists. The exhibit reflects the students’ OSAI experience, with each student artist represented by at least one piece of artwork.
“It is apparent upon visiting Enid and seeing this vibrant town that the arts are truly valued in this community,” said Stefanie Leland with OAI. “The Oklahoma Arts Institute is excited to showcase Tour de Quartz at the Enid Public Library, as we continue our mission to elevate the importance of art, and the impact of programs like ours for Oklahomans.”
The Enid Public Library invites the community to view the Tour de Quartz exhibit for free at any time during open hours.
