Enid Public Library to Host Unity Day Event for Bully Awareness Month

In recognition of National Bully Awareness Month, the Enid Public Library invites the community to a special Unity Day event on Oct. 16 at 4:30 p.m. This event is dedicated to raising awareness about bullying while creating a culture of kindness, inclusion, and acceptance.

Unity Day, celebrated annually on the third Wednesday of October, emphasizes that bullying is a serious issue requiring a collective community effort. The goal is to create a safe environment for everyone, at school, online, and in the wider community, while reminding those affected by bullying that they are not alone.

Leading up to the event, community members are encouraged to participate in Project Connect. Attendees can visit Project Connect stations at the library to write their commitments on orange paper strips, sharing how they can make the community safer and kinder. These strips will be collected to form a chain, symbolizing the community’s collective actions.

The event will feature storytelling, discussions on kindness, and creative opportunities for kids to paint kindness rocks as a fun way to spread positivity. All youth participants will receive snacks and free books.

This event is open to students in third grade and up. Attendees are encouraged to wear orange on Oct. 16 to show their support for Unity Day’s mission.
