Sequoyah Readers to Cast Votes at March 10 Pizza Party
February 13, 2026
Students who have read at least three books from their age group’s Sequoyah master list are invited to cast their votes at the Enid Public Library's Sequoyah Voting & Pizza Party from 4:30 to 6 p.m. March 10 in the library’s youth section.
The event allows students to help determine the winners of the 2026 Sequoyah Book Awards, a statewide readers’ choice program recognizing outstanding books in three age divisions: Children’s, Intermediate or High School. To be eligible to vote, students must have read three books from their respective age group list.
To get started, students must download the Beanstack app and log their books. After creating an account or logging in, readers can search for and join the 2026 Sequoyah Challenge. Books previously read may still be logged in the app.
Participants may read and log as many books from their master list as they wish, but only three are required to vote.
The Sequoyah Book Awards honor the Native American leader Sequoyah, who created the Cherokee syllabary by developing 85 symbols to represent the spoken sounds of the Cherokee language, preserving his people’s language and culture. The awards program encourages young readers across Oklahoma to engage with high-quality literature while giving them a voice in selecting the winners.
