GET READY TO BATTLE!
GET READY TO BATTLE!
The library will host RoboBattles throughout June, giving teens the opportunity to work together to design, build and battle LEGO robots in a hands-on STEAM competition.
RoboBattles begins Saturday, June 6, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. with a kickoff event where participants will help decorate the RoboBattles Arena and receive information about the teen team competition. Teens may form their own teams or join with other participants at the library. The competition will feature four teams with four teens on each team.
The following Saturdays in June will focus on building and preparing the robots with teammates before competition events begin. The series will also include an all-ages battle event, giving the community a chance to experience RoboBattles firsthand.
The June program will conclude with the first round of the Teen Team RoboBattles competition. The library also plans to continue RoboBattles in July, with additional dates and details to be announced later this summer.
RoboBattles at the library is supported by The Dr. Bert Clampitt Memorial Science Fund and the Grant Imahara STEAM Foundation. The foundation supports hands-on STEAM learning experiences that encourage creativity, teamwork and problem-solving for young innovators. Through the foundation’s support and donated materials, the library is able to provide teens with opportunities to collaborate while building and competing with LEGO robots.
