Enid Public Library Highlights Local Impact of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

The Enid Public Library is celebrating Give Like Dolly Day on Sept. 25 by highlighting the local impact of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and encouraging community members to support early literacy in Garfield County.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides children from birth to age 5 with a free, high-quality book mailed directly to their homes each month. The Enid Public Library serves as the local partner for the program throughout Garfield County. Today, more than 1,400 children in Garfield County receive books each month at no cost to their families.
Give Like Dolly Day, established by The Dollywood Foundation, celebrates the local organizations and community partners that help bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to children in communities around the world. The annual event also encourages people to support organizations working to help children in their own communities.
The Imagination Library was founded by Parton in 1995 in honor of her father, who could not read or write. The program has since grown into the largest early childhood book-gifting program in the world.
Community members can support the Garfield County program by making a donation. Donations help the library continue providing books to eligible children throughout Garfield County.

Launched in 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is the world’s leading early childhood book-gifting program and the flagship initiative of The Dollywood Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
