Nate's Next Kid Up

The Enid Public Library will welcome author, speaker, and youth philanthropist Nate Gonzalez for a free community program at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7.

At 12 years old, Gonzalez is the founder and CEO of Nate's Next Kid Up, a youth-led nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children dream big and reach their full potential through education, sports, the arts, science, leadership and community service.

Gonzalez began serving his community at age 7 after recognizing that many children did not have access to the same opportunities he enjoyed. At age 9, he founded Nate's Next Kid Up with a mission centered on the idea of "kids helping kids."

Since its founding, the organization has served thousands of children and families across Texas through school supply drives, toy drives, STEM activities, leadership initiatives, arts programs, and outreach to foster youth. The organization has distributed more than 10,000 toys to children in need and continues to expand its impact. Gonzalez also serves as a GivingTuesday Spark Leader and was recently honored as a Points of Light Honoree for his commitment to youth service and community leadership.

During his presentation, Gonzalez will share his experiences as a young nonprofit leader and discuss the importance of service, perseverance, and believing in yourself at any age. The program is open to families, students, and community members.

“This program gives young people an opportunity to hear from someone their own age who saw a need and decided to act,” said Library Director Theri Ray. “We hope Nate’s story helps local children and teens understand that their ideas matter and that they already have the ability to contribute to their community.”

The library will also distribute 100 free copies of Gonzalez's comic book, It's Time to Dream Big, while supplies last. The book uses Gonzalez's story and positive messages to encourage kindness, leadership, confidence, creativity and community service.
