Poetry Contests for Teens

April is national poetry month and the teens will be celebrating it at the library with two different contests.

The first is a poetry writing contest for middle and high school students.

Poetry contest Rules

  • contest is open to all teens ages 11-18
  • Entries are due by April 20
  • Entries must be dropped off at the Enid Public Library or emailed to gcumpston@enid.org.
  • No more than two poems per applicant
  • Poems must be original
  • Winners will be announced at the Poetry Slam on April 27 at 4:00 PM

The other contest is a teen Poetry Slam on April 27 at 4:00 PM

Teen Poetry Slam Rules:

  • Contest is open to all teens ages 11-18
  • Poems must be performed, not just read
  • Performances are limited to 1 1/2 minutes
  • No props or audio
  • Keep it clean
  • Poems must be presented to Gloria or Jenny before the contest. They can be emailed to gcumpston@enid.org or brought to the library by April 26
  • Performers will need a photo release from. Parents will need to sign for those under 18.
