Poetry Contests for Teens
April is national poetry month and the teens will be celebrating it at the library with two different contests.
The first is a poetry writing contest for middle and high school students.
Poetry contest Rules
- contest is open to all teens ages 11-18
- Entries are due by April 20
- Entries must be dropped off at the Enid Public Library or emailed to gcumpston@enid.org.
- No more than two poems per applicant
- Poems must be original
- Winners will be announced at the Poetry Slam on April 27 at 4:00 PM
The other contest is a teen Poetry Slam on April 27 at 4:00 PM
Teen Poetry Slam Rules:
- Contest is open to all teens ages 11-18
- Poems must be performed, not just read
- Performances are limited to 1 1/2 minutes
- No props or audio
- Keep it clean
- Poems must be presented to Gloria or Jenny before the contest. They can be emailed to gcumpston@enid.org or brought to the library by April 26
- Performers will need a photo release from. Parents will need to sign for those under 18.
