Did you know that the total solar eclipse on August 21st will be the first total solar eclipse in the US in 38 years? A solar eclipse is a lineup of the sun, moon, and earth. Everyone in the continental US will be able to at least see a partial eclipse this year. If you want to be the first to see the eclipse, you will need to travel to Oregon where you can view it at 10:15 AM. Join us on Wednesday, August 2nd at 4:00 as astronomer Joe Malan as tells us all we need to know to view the solar eclipse. We will learn what to expect, the best time for viewing in our area, and safety precautions. This program will be filled with learning, crafts, and refreshments. Each participant will leave with their own pair of solar eclipse glasses so that they will be ready for the real event on August 21st. This program is for elementary children and anyone with a strong interest in astronomy.
