Dear Readers,

You are invited to help “Build a Better World” this month with the Enid Public Library. The library is offering several activities designed to engage library users with local, national, and global communities. Stop by the second floor reference office to find information on local volunteer opportunities, letters for veterans, and entry sheets for this summer’s contest. If you haven’t filled out your contest sheets you’d better get busy as this year’s prizes include 11 book bags filled with books. (Three of the bags will contain a Kindle Fire.) All contest sheets will need to be turned in by 2:00 on July 19th when the wrap-up party takes place. Adults do not need to be present to win.

Tai Chi has returned to the library this summer at 4:30 on Wednesdays. This class is designed to allow everyone to participate, even those who use walkers, wheelchairs, or scooters. Through gentle stretching and strengthening exercises we will work to improve balance, strengthen muscles, and prevent falls. This series is presented by: Lesa K. Rauh, Garfield County OSU Extension.

On Saturday, July 8th our volunteer Jody will be available from 10:30-12:30 with free knitting and crochet lessons.

On July 11th we will host a Little Dresses for Africa Sew-Along. Participants should bring a sewing machine and help us create sundresses for little girls in need.

July’s Book Talk @ the Library will be a discussion on Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore.  The discussion will be held on July 11th at 6:00 pm. Copies of the book are available at the service desk.  If all of the copies are checked out, please ask to have the book put on reserve for you.

Stop by and say hello at the Enid Farmers Market on July 8 for Hometown Heroes Day. The market is open 8-11 most Saturdays through September. We plan to have our Pop-up Library there at least one Saturday a month. If you would be interested in volunteering with the Pop-up or with the Market, please let me know!

The Friends of the Library is looking for members to give them new ideas and to help out with events and promotions. The Friends of the Library of Enid, OK supports the library by:
