Did you know that December is Learn a Language Month? Always wanted to learn, but didn’t know where to start? The library can help! No matter how you learn, the library has resources to help you master that new language on your own schedule.

Take an Online Course

Interested in taking a self-guided language course online? We have a language learning resource where you can learn over 110+ languages, including American Sign Language. Lessons will take you through common words and phrases, using exercises in both speaking and writing the language.

Get started on Transparent Language Online. Log in with ENID followed by your 6-digit library card number.

Learn On-the-Go

Do you prefer to learn a new language while you’re on a grocery trip or while working out at the gym? How about right before you’re ready to drift off to sleep? The library can help with that! Our Playaways are a small mp3 player that only requires a pair of headphones to work. Currently, the library has German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese. We also have some for learning English in our U.S. Citizenship materials upstairs.

Reserve a Playaway on our catalog.

Learn through the Written Word

We also have plenty of books to help guide you through language learning. Head to our catalog at https://enid.biblionix.com/catalog/ and type in “Learn” followed by your preferred language (ex: Learn French).

Need help finding materials? Contact a librarian at 580-234-6313 or through the chat feature on the catalog (For best help, signing in with your library card is encouraged).
