Enid Public Library Offers Device Lending Through State Digital Opportunity Grant
February 10, 2026
The Enid Public Library has received the Oklahoma Department of Libraries’ Digital Opportunity Project Device Lending Grant, funded by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. Through the initiative, the library purchased 30 loanable Chromebooks and five mobile hotspots to expand digital access for residents.
“OKDHS’s investment — administered by ODL — puts reliable devices directly into the hands of our neighbors,” Library Director Theri Ray said. “From schoolwork and job searches to telehealth and benefits applications, these take-home Chromebooks are practical tools Enid families can count on.”
The new equipment includes 30 Chromebooks configured for easy access to email, word processing, and web-based services. ODL manages the devices to keep software current and to remotely disable units if they are lost or not returned. The library also added five Wi-Fi hotspots for patrons who may need internet connectivity while using a loaned Chromebook.
Under project requirements tied to OKDHS funding, devices are available for checkout to adults with a minor child or adults who qualify under Aging Services guidelines. Patrons may borrow a Chromebook alone or a Chromebook paired with a hotspot. Hotspots are not available for checkout by themselves. A brief eligibility survey appears at sign-in and must be completed before accessing the device.
ODL administers the Digital Opportunity Project and provides training and resources for library staff on digital literacy and OKDHS related services.
Library patrons with a library card in good standing may check out a Chromebook for up to 30 days or place a hold at the service desk. For information about availability and renewals, contact the library at 580-234-6313 or visit enid.okpls.org.
