Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (Between #1)

Violet White lives in a sleepy seaside town. She and her brother are broke and their bohemian artist parents in Paris have sent no money. Deciding to rent out the guest house brings the excitement she has been looking for. But is it more than she bargained for? Her grandma always warned her about the Devil, but could he really be disguised as the handsome boy, River Redding, she rented the guesthouse to? He has a unique power that is also frightening. He makes a mess of her sleepy town, and after making her fall in love with him, he takes off for another town.

Between the Spark and the Burn (Between #2)

In the second book, Violet and River’s brother, Neely, go looking for River. His powers not only hurt others but him as well. They need to find him and put a stop to it. Is Neely hiding his own power? Will they find River before he hurts more people? But most of all will he ever be able to stop using his powers? It’s a race to stop him before he loses his mind.

I give this series 3 of 5 stars. I enjoyed reading it, but it just wasn’t quite what I expected. The writing skills make up for what the story was lacking. I’ve read other books by this author, and she is a very good writer.
