Local author festivals are a great opportunity for authors with connections to this area to network and show or sell their work, and for the public to learn about the authors who are publishing right here in our neighborhood. Attendees can meet and greet some of the top writing talents in the region, sample their work, ask questions and even take home an autographed book.
You are cordially invited to participate in The Enid Author Fest to be held at the Enid Public Library Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 1:00-5:00 pm.
Tables will be set up on the first floor for book signing and selling from 1:00-5:00 pm. Three panel discussions will take place in the Great Plains Room of the Library during the event. Each panel will consist of 3-4 adult fiction and nonfiction authors and will be 45 minutes in length. Informal readings will take place in the children’s and teen areas of the library. If you wish to be considered for a panel discussion (adult authors) or reading (children’s or YA) please indicate on the online registration form. Table sitters will be available to take care of author tables while participating in a panel or reading.
The festival is limited to 40 authors, on a first come basis. All applications must be in by Feb. 1. Authors will be notified of acceptance by Feb. 5. Authors will need to provide their own books to sell, money box with change, and table covers and decorations. Authors will be responsible for the selling of their books as well as Oklahoma/Garfield County/City of Enid sales tax for this event. While authors will be limited to promoting one title via the festival marketing, they are welcome to bring as many titles as they wish to sell. All monies collected from book sales will go to the author.
A $15 fee (payable to Friends of the Library of Enid, OK) will be collected from each participating author to help cover the cost of marketing. Once authors have been notified that they have been accepted to the festival they should send the check or money order by Feb. 12 to: Enid Author Fest/Enid Public Library, 120 W. Maine, Enid OK 73701.
Authors are asked to donate a copy of the book they are promoting to the Library. Books are due to the library by Feb. 12. Send to: Enid Author Fest/Enid Public Library, 120 W. Maine, Enid OK 73701.
The Enid Public Library will provide one-half of a six foot table, a chair and name tag. Authors will set up on the first floor of the Library. Food or drinks are allowed at the tables. A sound system will be set up on the first floor for announcements. Each author will be introduced during the event.
Check-in will begin at 11:30 am and end at 12:45pm. Please be aware that parking is limited. We ask that you park close to the library (street or our alley parking) to unload, and then move your vehicle to the parking lot one block south and west of the Library to allow for ample parking for our attendees.
Upon check-in, you will receive your name tag and table assignment. The festival will run from 1:00-5:00pm. We ask that all participating authors stay for the entire event.
